Welcome to Eagles Year 6

2024-2025

The staff in Eagles are Mrs Young and Mrs Bell.

Welcome to term 6! We hope Eagles have a wonderful experience in their last term at Primary School.

PE days continue to be Tuesday and Thursday.

Our Tuesday dance lessons continue to be led by Hatti from Panthera Dance Studios. She has led the choreography for the Y6 performance for the past 3 years and will continue to do this from Tuesday 6th May. PE kit will be worn for these lessons.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Please click on the links for Eagles timetable for T6. There is some flexibility in the timetable this term due to the many extra activities which Y6 are involved in. Also attached is the curriculum overview for the year 2024-25.

PE:

In term 6,  PE lessons will be Tuesdays ( dance/athletics) and Thursdays (outdoor).
Please come to school dressed in the appropriate PE kit on these days.

HOMEWORK:

Homework is set each week on a Friday and is due in the following Wednesday. Homework will continue to be set using the CGP books from week 2 of term 6.

READING:

  • All children are expected to read 5 times per week minimum.
  • Homework Diaries should be in school EVERYDAY. Your reads will be counted on a Monday.
  • You must have a parental signature at the end of every week.
  • Children can bring in a book from home, choose one from the library or choose one from our class book shelf.
  • 5 reads and a parental signature will earn you a raffle ticket each week! The raffle tickets go into a box and at the end of term, one lucky winner will be drawn out who will then go on the bookshop visit to buy a book for their class.

MATHS:

Times Table Rockstars login details are in the reading diaries.

We have recommended to all pupils that they carry on practising this skill about 4 times per week. It is really helpful to pupils to have this knowledge, quickly, at their fingertips, so practising regularly will help all pupils maintain/reach this level.

SPELLINGS:

Below are the statutory spelling lists for Year 3/4 and Year 5/6. It is very important that you practise these often!

Spelling Lists Year 3/4

Spelling Lists Year 5/6

Term 1:

Our new Year 6 class transitioned well in September and rose to the expectations of being great role models to lower years. Many of them represented the school very well,  at the two football tournaments. Other pupils in the class will have opportunities to take part in other sporting events in later terms.

Term 2:

Eagles have shown brilliantly creative skills this term. They have produced excellent self-portraits using oil pastels, in Picasso's style. They worked very hard to create their puppets using neat stitching skills and detailed designs using a glue gun. We hope parents enjoyed seeing these at the DT exhibition at the end of term.
