Yesterday we went on a class trip to Hillier Gardens with Swallows.  We arrived in style on our double decker bus!  We had a wonderful but soggy day!  Here are a few snippets from our trip:

  • Meadow sweeping hunting for insects
  • Building habitats for woodland animals
  • Going on a caterpillar adventure
  • Pond dipping and Edie finding a newt!

Well done to all of Robins for their super behaviour!  There was a lot of sleeping children on our return back to school.  Have a look at our pictures below!

Last week we received a letter in the post.  It was from Bruno, our class bear.  He needed our help as he was going on holiday to Antigua and he was not sure what to pack.  First we did some research about Antigua and we found out that it was a very hot country with lots of lovely beaches.   We then got to work and wrote some instructions to help Bruno pack for his holiday.  Our writing was amazing!  We hope you have a lovely time Bruno!

This week in English we have been learning about the Easter Story. We created our own story map of the story and then thought of actions to help us retell the story. Unfortunately the video is too large to upload. We then produced some fantastic writing with some of us writing 3 pages!  Look how studious we all look!

Today we went on a Phonics Easter egg hunt.  We then came back to the classroom and wrote down words with our phonemes in.  We had great fun!  Happy Easter from Robins Class!

In science we have been learning about plants and what they need.  This afternoon we planted cress.  Our task now is to keep our cress alive and to remember to water it!

A very exciting morning today in Robins!  A mysterious parcel arrived in the post for Robins Class.  We carefully unwrapped it and inside we discovered an egg with a very crumpled letter.  We are not sure who it is from and we are waiting to see if the egg hatches.  Watch this space!

At the end of term we took a step back in time and looked at all of the different ways that people communicated in the past.  We then put these into chronological order.  Finally, we made carrier pigeons and flew messages to one another across the classroom.  We had great fun!

What a treat! As part of our art curriculum we enjoyed making dinosaurs with Wiltshire Scrap Store. They are an environmental charity who collect materials that would normally go to landfill and re-use them for creative projects. We had a super afternoon and we created some amazing dinosaurs.

Last week we visited St Andrews Church to learn about Baptism as part of our RE work.  Have a look at our pictures below.

Our topic for terms 1 and 2 is 'Food and Farming.'

We went to River Bourne Community Farm.  We saw lots of different animals, collected the eggs from the chickens, weighed the eggs and fed the animals. We had a very busy morning and were very tired when we got back to school. What a fantastic day we had!

In English we have been looking at the book Handa's Surprise.  We tasted lots of different fruit and wrote some amazing adjectives describing the fruit.  Have a look at our pictures below.

We had great fun following instructions to make jam sandwiches.  They were delicious!
