Welcome to Nightingales' page

Welcome to Term 4

It is so lovely to have everyone back at school! We have been really pleased with how well the children have settled back into class after lockdown. The focus of the first two weeks is to get children used to being back at school and back into a routine, alongside taking part in PSHE lessons, collaborative activities and well-being tasks. Ultimately, we want everyone to enjoy their return to Bemerton - Nightingales have definitely been excited about spending time with their friends!

The adult timetable remains the same, so I will be in class on a Monday, Thursday and Friday, with Mr Burns teaching on a Tuesday and Mrs Skuse on a Wednesday.

If you have any questions or worries, please get in contact with us via the office.

Many thanks, Mrs Pearce.

Please find below the current timetable and the curriculum plan for the whole year, so that you can see what we will be studying during Year 5. Also below, are the spellings that you will need to know by the end of year 6 - it would be wise to practise these regularly at home.

Please note:

PE: Children need to come to school in PE kit on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will be having Jody on a Tuesday and Ben on a Thursday and both aim to be outside if possible.

Reading: It is such an important part of learning. You will be expected to read at least five times a week (recording each read in the homework diary) and we will need a signature please from an adult at home. If children have read the required amount during the week, their name will be put into the termly raffle to win the chance of choosing a new book for the class (and enjoy a sweet treat whilst doing so!).

Homework: (NO HOMEWORK AT THE MOMENT, BUT WILL COMMENCE AGAIN SOON). This is a valuable opportunity to practise and remember the skills we have learnt in class. I always recommend that you do your homework as soon as you receive it. This is good preparation for the demands of Secondary school (which is really not that far away for you). If you leave homework, it will stack up. You may also find it more difficult because it is not as fresh in your mind. Your homework will be provided on the Learn platform of the website on a Friday and will be due in on the Wednesday of the following week. It will usually consist of English and Maths. One of the adults in class is always around to help you if you are unsure of how to tackle your homework. Please don't leave this until home time on Tuesday afternoon though!
