Welcome to Term 3!

I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas break and are ready for a busy term 3. The adult timetable remains the same, so I will be in class on a Monday, Thursday and Friday, with Mr Burns teaching on a Tuesday and Mrs Skuse on a Wednesday.

Please find below the current timetable and the curriculum plan for the whole year, so that you can see what we will be studying during year 5. Also below, are the spellings that you will need to know by the end of year 6 - it would be wise to practise these regularly at home.

Please note:

PE You need to come to school in PE kit on Mondays and Thursdays. We will be doing dance on a Monday in the hall and Ben will be teaching outdoor PE on a Thursday. As the weather is more wintery, please bring some clean socks and alternative shoes to wear after PE on a Thursday.

Reading It is such an important part of learning. You will be expected to read five times a week at least and we will need a signature please from an adult at home. Once you have finished a book, you will be asked to write a book review in school. Please remember that we can always help you choose a book that you might like. Mr Burns, Mrs Skuse and I are all big book worms!

Homework This is a valuable opportunity to practise and remember the skills we have learnt in class. I always recommend that you do your homework as soon as you receive it. This is good preparation for the demands of Secondary school (which is really not that far away for you). If you leave homework, it will stack up. You may also find it more difficult because it is not as fresh in your mind. Your homework will be provided on the Learn platform of the website on a Friday and will be due in on the Wednesday of the following week. It will usually consist of English and Maths. One of the adults in class is always around to help you if you are unsure of how to tackle your homework. Please don't leave this until hometime on Tuesday afternoon though!
