We are an International School
We are delighted to have been awarded the International Schools Award for the third time! Thank you very much all the parents and friends of the school who helped us run events such as as European Day of Languages and our International Arts Week last summer.
The children in Wrens, Swallows and Woodpeckers enjoyed a day with Demi Ladwa; we took part in a range of activities, from dressing up in saris, to learning the stick dance, Dandia Ras, and henna hand painting. It was a great way to learn more about India and the festival of Diwali!
We were very pleased to welcome a teacher and two students from Lawrence Homan Public School in Lucknow, North India. They spent three days with us, finding out about English schools and answering our questions about India. Year 4 learned how to do Indian-style PT and play the tag game kho-kho.
Bemerton St John is an expert centre for the Global Learning Programme. We hold network meetings for local schools, where they can come and share ideas and resources on subjects such as Fair Trade or the Olympics.
European Day of Languages 2016
We held an exciting day with classes studying America, France, India, Germany and China. The children all dressed up and activities included cooking (and tasting) native food and learning French German and Sign Language!
Fair Trade Fortnight
To celebrate Fair Trade Fortnight, Kingfishers class held a Fair Trade tea party and invited parents and grandparents to attend. They spent the morning baking some yummy treats using Fair Trade ingredients and also served Fair Trade tea and coffee. It was a great success and everyone had a wonderful time.
