Welcome from the Chair
A very warm welcome to Bemerton St John Primary school on behalf of all governors. I was delighted, and extremely proud, to be elected as the Chair of Governors in October, having served as a Governor at the school for the past three years. It was recognised last year within our Ofsted inspection that ‘the school is a place where the child is at the heart of every decision made’. As a governor, and as a parent to two children at Bemerton, I can honestly say that this statement holds true in the decisions that we have made, and continue to make, for every pupil at the school.
Through the strong and ambitious leadership of our school and dedicated teachers we have instilled a culture of continuous improvement to ensure that we build on the positive feedback that we received last year through our Ofsted and SIAMS inspections. We have welcomed this year two new teachers to Bemerton, Miss Innes and Mrs Lawrence, both of whom have settled incredibly well into the school in their first terms. We will also be welcoming Mr Price in the coming term. I am very excited by each of these appointments and the valuable skills, experiences and enthusiasm that they bring to the school as we look to continue our development in the coming years.
As a Governing body, we support the teachers and teaching assistants to ensure all of our pupils receives an outstanding educational experience whilst realising their full potential, from joining us at the school, through academic progression and attainment outcomes, as well as focusing on extra-curricular opportunities, social and behavioural progress, to ensuring pupils are well prepared, resilient, caring, responsible and confident for their next stage of their education and learning journey.
Bemerton is a friendly, inclusive, fun and caring school with a Christian ethos that has high expectations for every child from every background. This creates a safe yet stimulating and exciting environment for essential learning, independent thinking, intellectual curiosity and sharing of ideas where all can thrive and perform to their best every day.
At Bemerton we are very proud of all the children, the talents they bring and share with others and their enthusiasm for learning. We never fail to be impressed by the progress children make, their genuinely exceptional achievements and sense of fun and enjoyment on their journey here at our school. We believe this does not happen by chance and key to the success of Bemerton is putting each young person and their family at the centre of discussions about supporting their individual aspirations. We are very fortunate to enjoy positive, active and trusting relationships with parents and carers and, as you know your children best, we listen to your views to help shape every child's educational journey and outcomes.
I would strongly encourage you to visit and experience our happy and inspirational school for yourself and see if it is the right choice for your child or children. Please call Kathy or Vannessa on 01722 322848 to arrange a visit and a member of our staff will be delighted to show you around.
