Homework

Here at Bemerton we believe in developing your child’s understanding of the importance of the link between learning in school and at home. Your child's learning journey is a partnership between home and school.

We do not set weekly homework but we do encourage the children to practise their reading book and phoneme cards each day. It is important for your child to do this in a quiet, relaxed environment free from distractions. This should take no longer than 10 minutes each time.

We do occasionally send end of term home tasks which support and consolidate the theme that we have been studying. These tasks are optional but the children do enjoy sharing what they have done with their friends.

We also have a weekly Show and Tell session. This usually has a different focus each week. We do encourage the children to think carefully about what they are going to talk about and ask that you support your child by taking a little time to practise speaking clearly before the day.
