W topic

This term we are focussing on growth.

Initially we will be planting seeds and learning how to take care of them and what they need to help them grow. We will then be exploring habitats of minibeasts in our environment.

We went out exploring in the garden. We searched for minibeasts. We discovered snails, slugs, worms, beetles, spiders and a Mayfly.

It has been a very exciting couple of weeks here in Wrens. We have been observing the life cycle of a butterfly. We watched as the caterpillars grew and wriggled around. It was amazing to see them build their cocoons and finally emerge as butterflies. We fed the butterflies fruit and got very excited as we released them today.

Wrens have been learning about the environmental artist Andy Goldsworthy. He uses natural materials to create sculptures in the outdoors. We used things that we found in the school environment to create our own sculptures. Can you see what we have used?

Diver Daisy comes to visit.

Wrens were very excited to go on an adventure 'under the sea' this week. Diver Daisy from Perform Drama needed our help to find the magical pearl that had been taken by the Creature Under the Sea. We danced, moved and acted our parts as though we really were under the sea. What a lot of fun!
